Cushing Academy reviewed and researched the field of offerings from several vendors, and concluded that the Lenovo T61 ThinkPad model offered the best value, best technology, best service offering and pricing for our community. The T61 ThinkPad has a built-in wireless card to allow students to access the Internet and network resources in all academic areas. Moreover, Cushing will be able to support this model through its Technology Department. The system will come with a comprehensive support package that includes Cushing Academy-ready software and Lenovo’s four year accidental warranty coverage.

Do the laptops come complete and ready to use?
Yes, the laptops will be loaded with Cushing Academy configured software bundle, a modem, network port, and built-in wireless card. The laptop will be configured using your Cushing User ID and Password and will be added to the Cushing network so the laptop will be ready to use out of the box.
Does my new laptop come with a carrying case?
No, the bundled price does not include a carrying case. However, you may purchase a carrying case as an option when ordering through the web site. We STRONGLY encourage you to either select this option or purchase a suitable carrying case on your own prior to coming to campus. The laptop does come with a protective laptop sleeve for protection within student book bags.
Do I need a printer with my laptop?
Cushing provides a number of laser printers in the library and public labs so a printer is not a necessity. However, many students find that having their own color printer is extremely convenient. Printers can be found on CDWG’s web site and at office supply stores for approximately $100. Please note that printers are NOT supported by the Cushing Academy Technology Department.
What is covered under the warranty and for
how long?
Lenovo’s Accidental coverage is the most comprehensive repair and replacement service for Lenovo computers. It is a supplement to Lenovo’s limited warranty, and it covers non-intentional, accidental damage for four years. Students will find that this warranty provides an excellent value during their academic careers. In our extensive experience, this is essential coverage for students. |
